2. Purchase Terms

2.1  Overview

These Purchase Terms govern all sales made through Refined by Leather Surgeons. By placing an order, you agree to these Purchase Terms in addition to our Terms of Use. Please read carefully before purchasing.

2.2  Nature of Products: Pre-Owned & Prepared

All items sold through Refined by Leather Surgeons are pre-owned luxury goods. Many items have been professionally prepared by our studio prior to listing. Preparation may include restoration work and may involve, but is not limited to:

  • Cleaning and conditioning

  • Color touch-up or pigment balancing

  • Edge paint repair or re-application

  • Stitching repair or reinforcement

  • Hardware polishing or plating

  • Interior cleaning, deodorizing

  • Lining repair or replacement 

  • Reshaping or restructuring

  • Zipper or closure repair or replacement

Preparation and restoration are performed to improve the appearance, function, and longevity of an item, but do not render a pre-owned piece “new,” or remove all imperfections.

LSI utilizes various products and materials during the preparation process. LSI is unaware of any potential health issues that may arise from exposure to these products during such preparation process.  If you have a particular sensitivity to a particular product, please let us know.  Further, LSI is not the original manufacturer of the items it sells and therefore has no knowledge of any products or chemicals used prior to LSI’s possession. By purchasing a product from us, you waive any liability claims against LSI regarding potential health issues that may arise in the future as a result of exposure to the products used during the preparation process.

2.3  Condition Description & Listing Accuracy

We describe and photograph each item to reflect its condition as accurately as possible under professional lighting. However, buyers acknowledge and accept the following inherent limitations:

  • Pre-owned items may exhibit signs of prior use, including wear, patina, softening, minor marks, or age-consistent variation that is expected in pre-owned luxury goods

  • Photographs are taken under controlled conditions; actual appearance may vary depending on your display, ambient lighting, and viewing environment

  • Descriptions of condition are inherently subjective and reflect the considered judgment of experienced craftsmen; they are not based on a standardized grading scale

  • Natural leather characteristics — including grain variation, texture differences, minor veining, or patina development — are properties of the material and are not considered defects

Buyers are responsible for reviewing all photographs and condition notes carefully and are encouraged to contact us with any questions prior to purchase. Variations in perception of condition, color, or texture that fall within the scope of the above do not constitute a misrepresentation and are not a basis for return, refund, or dispute.

2.4  Nomenclature & Description Variance

Luxury handbags are sold, referenced, and discussed across a global market in which naming conventions, style designations, and colorway descriptions vary significantly. Leather Surgeons makes no warranty that:

  • The style name or model designation used in our listing matches the terminology used by any manufacturer, buyer, reseller, forum community, or secondary market platform. A bag may be identified by multiple names across different markets, eras, and regions.

  • Color descriptions represent an exact, universally agreed-upon shade. Color perception is subjective and varies by individual, display calibration, and viewing conditions. Our color descriptions reflect our professional assessment and are not color-matched warranties.

  • Measurements and dimensions given in product listings are approximate and may reflect minor variations inherent to handcrafted or artisan production.

Discrepancies in style naming, colorway terminology, or description phrasing that falls within the range of reasonable interpretive variation do not constitute misrepresentation and are not grounds for a return, dispute, or chargeback.

2.5  Authenticity

Every item offered through Refined by Leather Surgeons has been carefully evaluated by our team and has been determined in our expert opinion to be authentic. 

Leather Surgeons is an independent studio and is not affiliated with Chanel®, Hermès®, or any other brand. No brand has independently authenticated the items sold through this Site. Our assessment is based on our own expert analysis and proprietary methodology.

Scope of Assessment

Our evaluation reflects our professional judgment that an item is authentic and was originally manufactured by the brand identified in the listing. This assessment does not extend to individual preferences, perceived value, or interpretations of condition beyond what is described. It also does not account for differing opinions from third parties or external platforms.

2.6  Authentication Dispute Process

Leather Surgeons has the deepest respect for buyers who approach authenticity questions seriously. However, given our unmatched standing in this field, our authentication determination carries significant presumptive weight. The following process governs any authenticity dispute:

  • You must notify us in writing at info@leathersurgeons.com within 48 hours of confirmed delivery with your order number and a clear statement of your concern.

  • You must provide specific, documented grounds for the dispute. General discomfort, opinions from online communities, or reports from third-party resellers without recognized professional authority will not meet this threshold.

  • Where a dispute appears credible on its face, we may, at our sole discretion, request that the item be returned to our studio for re-examination. Our re-examination will be conducted at no cost to the buyer if the item is returned in the same condition it was received.

  • If, upon re-examination, we determine that the item is not authentic, we will issue a full refund of the purchase price upon receipt and inspection of the returned item.

  • If our re-examination confirms authenticity, no refund will be issued. We reserve the right to require documentation from a third-party authenticator of our choosing if we elect to involve one; we are not obligated to honor determinations from authenticators selected unilaterally by the buyer.

2.7  Pricing & Order Acceptance

We reserve the right to:

  • Correct pricing errors prior to shipment; if a pricing error cannot be corrected, the order may be cancelled with a full refund

  • Cancel orders at our discretion, including in cases of suspected fraud, inventory issues, or system errors

  • Limit the quantity of items available to any single buyer

If an order is cancelled, you will receive a full refund. Acceptance of payment does not constitute final order confirmation; a shipping confirmation constitutes acceptance.

2.8  All Sales Final

All sales are final. Refined by Leather Surgeons does not accept returns, exchanges, or cancellations except under the narrow circumstances described in Section 2.9. Final sale applies regardless of buyer preference, change of mind, receipt of a gift, or the availability of the item at a different price elsewhere.

2.9  Limited Return Exceptions

A return may be considered only if one of the following applies:

  • The item is confirmed not authentic pursuant to Section 2.6

  • You receive the wrong item (i.e., an item that does not match the order placed)

  • The item has a material, undisclosed defect that is not visible in photographs and was not noted in the listing description

For purposes of this policy, a material defect is one that meaningfully affects the item’s structure, function, or overall usability. Minor imperfections, including those consistent with normal use or not readily apparent without close inspection, do not qualify.

Specifically excluded from return eligibility:

  • Condition or wear consistent with or less than what is shown in photos and described in the listing

  • Subjective disagreement with color, naming, or description phrasing (see Section 2.4)

  • Restoration or preparation work consistent with the processes described by Refined by Leather Surgeons (see Section 2.2)

  • Natural material variation in leather, hardware, or stitching

  • Minor or incidental imperfections, including those in interior or low-visibility areas

  • Change of mind, personal preference, or buyer’s remorse

To request a return review, you must contact us within 48 hours of delivery with: your order number; a detailed description of the issue; and clear photographic or video evidence. Returns will not be accepted without prior written approval. Approved returns must be shipped within the window we provide, via insured and trackable shipping, in the exact condition received. We reserve the right to deny any return if the item shows evidence of use, damage, alteration, or tampering after delivery.

2.10  Refusal of Service

We reserve the right to refuse service, cancel orders, or restrict future purchases at our sole discretion, including but not limited to cases of suspected fraud, policy abuse, chargeback history, or conduct inconsistent with these terms.

2.11  Limited Warranty and Disclaimer

Except as otherwise expressly provided in these Terms, LSI makes no warranties, either express or implied, regarding the items offered for sale on the Site or the value of any such item after it has been purchased.  LSI specifically disclaims any warranty of merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose.

2.12 Payments

All payments will be processed by Shopify and must be made by credit card unless LSI has agreed, in writing, to an alternate form of payment for your order. You must submit valid credit card information.  Your card will be charged prior to shipment.  All shipping costs will be added at checkout. You agree that you will not seek to reverse any charges.
